Do school

I have had mentioned on my other blogs that I want to go to college, not college necessarily, I want to do school. I had attended trainings; computer-related last few months. I’ve finished my high school four years ago, after that I did not proceed to college for some reason, financial aspect specially. Nobody encouraged me to go to school.  Many times I am thinking about what my future would be. I’ll never regret that I haven’t done college last four years. I am thankful instead because I have learned a lot more than the school could give me.  I have met my classmate last few days. He is on his way for a Professional Licensed Teacher, I mean, he is doing practicum right now. It’s always good to hear when somebody reap the fruit of their effort. I’ve felt jealous to him but I started to think of what I am and what I’ve got right now, hmmm I got something different!

I don’t think I can do college. I’ve learned some skills from different trainings I’ve attended. I’m happy that I can find myself teachable and I hope I’ll always be.

Lately, I went to one of the College Universities here in our place. It’s UPOU (University of the Philippines Open University), here’s their website http://www.upou.org . You can visit the website for more information by clicking the link. My friend introduced this to me. I have no idea about this before. I only know that there are some schools that offer online courses… I am interested on that but when I searched on the internet… I couldn’t find any schools that offers courses online here in Philippines. So, I went to the office of the school and have signed up. Wow! doing school at home? Sounds great, isn’t it? I am hoping that this will work out on me. Theres a lot of things to do for myself; self-discipline, self-motivated to study (I’ve failed subjects when I was in high school but I’ll do my school well this time, promise!), time and money management and making priorities.

I’ll be posting the latest updates about this.

Music I am listening to

I really love singing. My desire is to be a singer or a musician someday but I don’t think I’m gonna get what I want, nobody knows. Here is a link http://youtube.com/watch?v=2sApH8VtWFI of what I am listening right now. What a voice. I was in a choir group few years ago. I was singing the bass part, I loved it. My friend showed this video to me… and I said ”wow” I love his voice. Everytime I am on the internet, I use to listen this music video. Pretty cool.

Internet Addiction

How Internet addiction is affecting lives?

I knew, there are a lot articles out there that talk about his issue. I talked to one of my friend yesterday, we were talking about behaviors of people in this modern world. My parents have told us how people lived 10 to 15 years ago. I just started comparing with people on these days and the people on the old days with no internet at all. Here is an article I quoted related to this.

“The Internet – millions of people rely on it for everyday tasks. But when is the line crossed between average use and addiction? An article published in Perspectives in Psychiatric Care states, “The Internet has properties that for some individuals promote addictive behaviors and pseudo-intimate interpersonal relationships.” Nurse practitioners will soon find themselves faced with the issues of “internet addicts” and their inability to get offline.

While not yet defined as a true addiction, many are suffering the consequences of obsession with the online world, unable to control their use. From gaming to sexual and emotional relationships, the internet is taking over lives. More and more people will be confronted with consequences such as divorce and physical symptoms which will force them to seek both medical and psychological treatment.

Online marital infidelity (cybersex) can lead to divorce and harm personal relationships. Individuals who seek out sexual partners online also appear to be at higher risk for sexually transmitted disease. Furthermore, such behaviors can lead to cybersexual addiction. Previous studies have reported that “Approximately 9 million people, or 15 percent of Internet users, accessed one of the top adult Web sites in a 1-month period.”

Some physical symptoms include “cyber shakes,” dry eyes, carpal tunnel syndrome and headaches. “A focus on the computer and lack of attention to daily reality is indicative of poor judgment and results on lowered grades in school, job loss, and indebtedness.”

Recognizing this as an addiction will allow for appropriate treatment. Subsequently, therapists will be faced with how to treat such technological addictions and their associated issues.”–From Blackwell Publishing
